Located 160km northwest of Newcastle, about 1½ hours drive, Lake Glenbawn State Park is situated on the foreshores of Glenbawn Dam and is reached via the New England Highway, from either Aberdeen or Scone. From Sydney, it's only a 3½ hour drive, making it ideal for that weekend away or for a family holiday.

Lake Glenbawn State Park is just 15 minutes from the town of Scone, which has a good shopping centre with cafes, restaurants, hotel and service station. Aberdeen is also only 15 minutes away, although a smaller town, you can buy all essential provisions there.

The park is great for barbeques and picnics, or bushwalks and other recreation in a natural setting. For weekend or longer holidays, holiday cabins and campsites offer breathtaking views and there are many recreation facilities. Lake Glenbawn is renowned as one of the best freshwater fishing spots in New South Wales. Cast a line and you can catch bass, golden perch (yellow belly), Murray cod, trout and catfish.
